WRITING PROMPTS
        WHAT IS MY FAVOURITE HOLIDAY
This thought set me thinking as good prompts should,
My mind went back to childhood first, I knew it would,
Then, it was Christmas, though the times were meagre,
We waited for the rare treats, each heart so very eager.

Yes, Christmas as a child, even if the bombs came down,
Was the best holiday, one that wore the favourite crown,
A time for prayer and singing, a stocking by the bed,
A time for saved for goodies longed for weeks ahead.

But now my view is different it’s when we are all together,
It does not matter the season nor what kind of weather,
My favourite holiday is when we all gather together again
As a happy family, that’s a holiday free from hurt and pain.

Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas, or Canada Day,
Whenever we are united that’s the best holiday,
This year Thanksgiving, last year Christmas was best,
I know when we are a family that holiday passes the test.
