THE SONG OF THE HEART
I love to sing hymns of praise, my voice rend the sky,
Hoping the love I feel will reach the heavens up high,
My voice is not as good as it used to be years ago,
But the deep feelings to my God I still want to show.
I love to sing with the sisters, voices joined as one
In harmony, tears showing when the hymn is done,
No one seems to mind if a few voices are off key,
They sound, as I listen, as sweet as angels to me.
A song from the heart can never ever be out of tune,
When love and devotion can fill a large class room,
Honest worship so freely given from every contrite heart
Can bring down the angels to join in and sing their part.
To chat and whisper during a hymn is a mockery to Deity,
A chance for the adversary to enter in, more is the pity,
Instead, the Holy Ghost should have been joyfully invited in.
Please let voice and heart join in praise, the spirit to win.
Everyone can sing from the heart an anthem loud and clear,
One for all the heavens to constantly reverently wait to hear,
Lift up the heart and voice sing hymns with sweet proclaim,
Come sing with true rejoicing to your Heavenly God and king.
