More poems about Homes

HOME CAN BE A CASTLE
Home can be a castle built high upon a hill,
Or some stately mansion, or a converted mill.
Home can be a big house with lots of room to spare,
Or a tiny country cottage with a garden truly fair.

It maybe a town-house or an apartment very tall,
But what it really is doesn’t much matter at all.
What matters is the feeling of love and kindness sweet,
So that when you see it your heart skips a beat.

For when safe inside you are free from worry and harm,
There is love and affection, there is peace and there is calm,
There’s forgiveness and understanding, an ever open door,
There may be a cat or a dog curled up asleep upon the floor.

There is a spirit of contentment even on a hectic day,
And the home is always open for those who need to stay.
So home is what you make it, you bit of heaven on earth,
A shield from the trials of life, a gift of great worth.
