HARVEST
Augusts bounty fills the air with sweetness,
Fully ripened fruit full of natures goodness,
The beauty of blossoms matured to fulfilment,
Gifts from a cornucopia constantly, freely sent.
Line upon line of trees baring fruit more than there share,
Different types of apricots, peaches, plums, apples, pear,
And others, cantaloupe , honeydew and watermelon too,
Giving healthy nourishment and so sweet right through.
Succulence, juiciness, and soft fragrance while you eat,
The luscious fruit just picked everywhere you can greet,
Eat it fresh so at its best all the time when you are able,
Then dream of it as you place it home canned on the table.
Remember peach juice running down your face and arms,
Ripened in the sun, not packed, bruised or come to harm,
But perfect in every way. So eat as much as you can,
Then jam and bottle ready for winter, a very good plan.
Apple pies, bumble berry and other fruit pies too,
Put them in the freezer, thats the best things to do,
Try and hide some away so they last a little while,
Then eat one later one, remember August and smile.
