BE A LIFTER UPPER
As we go through life we should try
To lift each other up, understand by
Listening as a problem they do share,
Of your worries let them not be aware.

Your suffering should you empathy give,
Help friends with comfort so they can live
A happier life, not brag of one-upmanship,
For that is like hitting them with a cruel whip.

Do not be a gossip, let nothing come from you,
Be it true or erroneous the right thing to do
Is not even listen, but to just kindly turn away,
I know you will feel better at the end of the day.

Be a lifter upper, give a needed listening ear,
Let the person know they need have no fear
That the things they say will go no further afield,
And to you a heavy burden they may yield.

When they have told their story it’s not so sad
You may be able to help a heart feel more glad,
Seek out those who are hurting, give them a lift
And the Lord will bless you with His hidden gift.
