        A GLIMMER OF LIGHT
A glimmer of light shone through the heavy cloud,
The air was oppressive, like some weighty shroud,
The storm had almost faded it grumbled far away
As if telling us that it really wanted longer to stay.

There was now a silver lining and a hint of blue,
It looked as if the sun would at last make it through,
The silence was broken by the cheeping of a bird,
No longer could the sound of a dying storm be heard.

One by one the birds began a bright triumphal song,
More and more joined in that sweet melodic throng,
The air cleared, vistas returned to be seen once again,
Gone was the thunder, the lightening and heavy rain.

The glimmer of light grew until it filled the whole sky,
The sun was westward bound and in glory she did fly,
Colouring every cloud with silver and gold so bright,
Then fading in the deepest red she sailed out of sight.
