LISTENED
I would have loved to have listened to the master
read the holy script,
Felt the meaning come alive, been deeply fed instead
of just sipped
On the precious words that most times testified
of His coming,
Seeing those scriptures fulfilled because of the knowledge
He was showing.
Felt His power come over me as I heard the scripture
revealed there to me,
I hope I would not be part of the crowd that made
Him for safety flee.
I can imagine the gentle power as He read in
Nazareth His home,
Where He was just the carpenters boy who had
wandered off to roam,
There must have been some who knew that He
was the chosen one,
The Messiah prophesied that some time to save
He would come.
I would have loved to have looked into His eyes,
helped ease the pain
When He was not accepted as the one their eternal
life to gain.
I could not be there but I will tell all who are
willing to hear,
That He came to save all mankind and His love
for them is dear.
