WHEN FAITH ENDURES
When the road is smooth and the going easy to take,
Nothing to ruffle feathers or worry to keep you awake,
We are free from adversity and nothing is going wrong,
Our hearts are light and happy, easy to sing a song.

But when adversity come our way, rears it’s cruel head,
Sickness, tragedy or death comes filling us with dread,
Let our faith endure well, see the blessings as we grow,
Let us sing our songs louder as through trials we go.

Rejoice in tribulations give thanks for hurt and pain,
For it is the hard way to tread, sweet heaven to gain,
The Lord refines us to help our light brightly shine,
But watches, oh, so closely over your life and mine.

A promise that we will not suffer more than we can bear
Is given to let us know that He is with us everywhere,
Feel His comforting arm as the trials come our way,
Trust in His goodness and love through every single day.

He watches over us like a refiner of silver and of gold,
He will not let us suffer too much we are often told,
Adversity, a gift so precious for it makes us strong,
If we in faith can proclaim God’s love in sweet song.
