May the Lord bless you on this your special day,
Your sweet wife Maureen with you ever stay,
May love flow like a river from heaven above,
For you always give so much of yourself in love.

May your hands stay strong, still things make,
May your active mind continue to ever create
Wonderful words of inspiration to be told,
Then, Gerhard, I know you’ll never grow old.

Remember as a scouter all the fun you had?
How many boys you saved from turning bad,
Continue to love outdoor life and nature too,
Remember the Lord has always blessed you.

All the family love and honour you this your day,
A good patriarch to us all in your own special way,
Although now turning seventy you are still young,
For the Lord of the Master in you is ever strong.

Your travels far and wide has given you wisdom,
Increased your faith and made your life blossom,
Let your light continue to shine bright for all to see,
Like beam of a lighthouse that sets lost sailor’s free.
