THE RAINBOW
You should have seen the rainbow
in the turbulent sky,
It looked so brilliant arched against the black
clouds rolling high,
There was a mirrored image just below
almost as bright,
A true double rainbow these is quite an
unusual sight.
The storm had been short and heavy and
suddenly did appear,
Sending people, birds and creatures scurrying
hoping shelter was near.
Driving, drenching, soaking, not caring what
problems it did cause,
It fell pitilessly, it seemed needlessly and
even just because.
We needed no more rain as the soil was
already very moist
And for a few hours more sun the flowers
would have rejoiced,
But the gift of the double rainbow in that
storm torn sky
Was worth the drenching that came so
suddenly from on high.
