BUILD A BRICK WALL
Sometimes I wish I could build a brick wall around me,
So of sharp, harsh words would always protected be,
No one to cause my heart to ache or cause me pain,
Never to be crushed or broken time and time again.
Then I stopped to think if that wall I really built around
I would shut out the love so freely given, the caring found,
That is mixed in with blows that fall every now and then.
So the brick wall would maybe hinder my fast flowing pen.
So I will not build that brick wall, keep on understanding
That my heart is too tender but is strong in withstanding
Things that hurt to turn away, the good grasp and hold,
So I will try to grow strong, refined enter into His fold.
