WHEN MY SHIP COMES IN
There is an old saying about being happy when my ship comes in,
I wonder how many times through life this prize we could win
But did not make the effort to unload the heavily laden ship,
Did not recognized the bounties and the wanted prize did slip
Out of the harbour fully loaded because we could not see
That part of the effort had to be performed just by me.
I want to be a dancer, twirling on the stage graceful as can be,
When my ship comes in then Ill have the money and be free
To dance on the stage, yet I do not practice hours each day
To help that great possible dream ship sail slowly my way,
You cannot just be famous even if your ship does come in,
The unloading is the hard work needed for your dream to win.
I wonder how many ships were sent my way, but could not see
That with great effort some great dream would come my way,
There it sat in the harbour waiting long for me to do my part,
Yes, when my ship comes in I hope Ill work with all my heart,
So look around and work, dont wait for your ship to come in,
For it may be right in front of you, your great prize to win.
