FIRST OF THE SEASON
One of the first fruits to be plucked from a tree
Is the succulent sweet tasting, refreshing cherry,
Plump and juicy that first taste is truly divine,
The sweet cherry is a great favourite of mine.
Well today I bought some from the grocery store,
The only problem is you always want a few more,
Although all fruit I enjoy, when fresh, cherries are best,
But it is hard to choose second place from all the rest.
Maybe a peach picked right from the mother tree,
Sun ripened to perfection so that the juice runs free,
Yes, peach is second, then come the plum and pear.
But for me cherries are best, a taste beyond compare.
