FLAMING JUNE
Today is June 2nd there are rain clouds
everywhere,
There is a chilly dampness present
in the air,
Yesterday was the same, save for an
hour or two
When the watery sun’s face came shining
through.
This is not June weather! Where is all
the hot sun?
By now the decent sunshine should have by
now begun,
The bedding plants have by now nearly
grown double
But with so little sun they must think it’s
too much trouble.
Three weeks to the start of summer, yet what
do we see?
Cool wetness, really a gardeners total,
utter misery.
Soon the days will be getting shorter, yet long
days don’t show,
For there are always rain clouds hanging
far too low.
