More poems about Baptistry

FEELING
There is a peaceful feeling in
the baptistry
Just before the youth come to set
souls free,
Yet, there is a feeling of expectancy
in the air,
As if there are many gathered around
quietly there.
Waiting, hoping that their work this day
will be done,
Then for them a new phase of living
will come.
At last the first two steps now taken
to heaven above,
Feeling strangers care and so offer
time and love.
All is still, no sounds as yet can
be heard,
But soon the baptistry will fill with
the sacred words
That flow as wonderful gifts to set
the waiting free,
Words of baptism and confirmation
are said aloud,
Then stop and think of the rejoicing in
that waiting crowd
Waiting and praying, then hear that
their turn has come.
Why not come to the baptistry, feeling the
joy as work is done?
