THE PERFECT GIFT
I knew I had the perfect gift, the one that
was just right,
I had seen it in the window and fell in love
with it on sight,
No other gift would do, I need to search
no more,
I could not wait to see her face as this prize
she would adore.
I wrapped it in pretty paper in a wrong size box
it did go
So the contents on seeing it my friend would
never know.
Happy birthday I said as she quickly opened
up her front door,
I sat close beside her as she kneeled down
to open it on the floor.
You should have seen her eyes, they glittered like
jewels in the sun,
She laughed and cried with joy saying she was
having too much fun.
As those eyes sparkled and I saw the smile
on her lovely face,
I knew it had been worthwhile to find a gift
in that odd place.
