        A PET STORE PUPPY
Looking in the glass panels at the pet store,
I gazed into the eyes of a puppy and saw
The very friend I needed, the four legged kind,
I asked if could I hold him, they did not mind.

He was a sheltie with a soft coat and a nose so long,
His lovely tail wagging saying, here’s where I belong,
I held him close, but he was far too expensive for me,
And from his glass cage the puppy wanted to be free.

They let me love and play with him for quite awhile
And did you know that shelties have the ability to smile?
We truly bonded that adorable sheltie puppy and me,
But at two thousand dollars the relationship could not be.
