A COZY FIRE
Last night we lit a fire, twas the 23rd of may,
It was cold and damp and dull, a rotten day,
It was really cozy all warm and very snug,
Both cats took advantage sitting on the rug.
May should be warm, no heat on at all
But lighting a fire was a needed call,
We could hear the rain pounding hard,
Then hearing gushing fast in the yard.
The dampness departed in the fires glow,
No one in the home wanted very far to go,
The dancing flames, the crackle and light
Filled the room with kind warm delight.
To have a fire in May messed the fire place,
It looked so pretty all laid and flowers in place
Right by the brass log holder ready for summer
To have to sort it out today was quite a bummer.
Although today is cloudy with some sun and rain,
We did not have to light the fire all over again,
I think its a record for over thirty years Ive known,
Its the first time in May there been a fire in our home.
