SORTING OUT
We tried to sort out the big closet but
we didnt get much done,
Because we kept stopping to read things,
having lots of fun,
Very little was thrown away not even a
garbage bag full,
For I feel without a clutter, closet life
would be really quite dull.
We looked at the books on the bookcase
cant throw those away,
They are old favourites and well read
them again another day,
The sheet music are all dear to our heart,
we both love to sing,
There is no way we can get rid of music
for much joy it did bring.
We need to tidy up and so get ready to paint
here and there,
The basement needs attacking but the same
will happen Im aware,
We need to steel ourselves, put away all
silly sentimental rot,
Not stop and read each thing we find just
go and pitch every jot.
But then I would wonder what treasure
I have thrown away,
And I will go on wondering about it until
my dying day.
