LONGING FOR A DOG
For a few years now I’ve wanted a dog of my own,
Feel that special bond between man and dog is shown,
Master or mistress they are always wanting to please,
Ambling along together looking happy and at perfect ease.

If it were a small dog, a Yorky would be the first choice,
They are to adorable, but for their size a very loud voice,
A mid size dog a Shetland sheepdog I would really like,
They are so full of energy always want a nice long hike.

A big dog is more difficult, I love them all so much you see,
So what I think I would do is let the big dog choose me,
Go to the pound and glance around at all those sad eyes
And the one who first showed me love would be my prize.

But we are far too busy to be fair to a dog of any size,
Just two or three walks a day, then alone full of sad sighs
Is no life for any dog but maybe much better off it would be
Than stuck in a cage at a pound waiting for someone like me.
