THE GIFT OF REPENTANCE
If there were no gift of repentance how sad we would be,
It would be like ever floundering in a never ending sea
Of despair, never knowing sweet peace of mind at all,
The weight of sin overpowering, at death we would fall.
But through His great suffering the atoning sacrifice divine,
Sweet repentance and then healing forgiveness can be mine,
A gift from a loving Father above to His children here below,
It shows just how much he loves us as through life we go.
As we kneel and ask for forgiveness, wanting to repent,
Think of the Masters suffering, and why he was sent
To earth, think of His love, willing to suffer and die
And as we repent, in sin and fear we shall never lie.
The gift of repentance we should use all life through,
Beg for forgiveness for every wrong thing that we do,
Think of Him kneeling there, bleeding at every pour,
Thus enabling us to one day enter heavens door.
