THE ROBIN
A robin stood on the back lawn tilting his head too and fro,,
I think he was trying to work out where all the worms did go,
He looked rather dejected standing there in the pouring rain,
Was he recently returned and need some new strength to gain?
I even opened the door and he did not move or fly away,
That made me worried and so I watched him for most of the day,
It was evening when I saw another robin start to sweetly sing,
Oh, the difference that sound made as he spread each wing.
I watched until he perched in a nearby bare tree,
He had followed the sound that had set his weary heart free,
Next day two robins worm hunted side by side,
As I watched them together my joy I could not hide.
