RETIRED AT LAST
Meadows green dotted with flowers,
Long warm days that last for many hours,
Sounds of summer waft on the sweet air,
Busy bees and children at play are everywhere,
The trees are in full leaf, shade to give
To the creatures that in time live,
You are lulled to sleep by a gurgling brook
As you sit in the warm sun to read a book,
In the gardens everything is growing so well,
It is summer no doubt, all can tell,
And when retired summer days you can enjoy
With no worry of work you to annoy,
If too hot, off to the mall you go
Wander around and window shop, going slow,
Then later when in the cool of the day
You can walk by the lake, watch boats in the bay.
