OPENING OF THE BASEBALL SEASON
The sky is vivid blue, but the wind is very keen,
The astroturf still looks a bright shade of green,
The temperature is cold, well below freezing point,
At the ball game I’d be chilly, freeze in every joint.

Yes today is the first ball game, summer is coming,
Today at the game there’ll be lots of feet stomping,
We in Toronto don’t have too bad a time at all
The roof can cover us if the snow begins to fall.

I haven’t got tickets and don’t want to pay scalpers price,
So to sit at home and watch it on TV would be quite nice,
Make a couple of hot dogs to get the right atmosphere,
Even light a fire to bring me extra comfort and cheer.

I’ll grab my noisemaker and wear my Blue Jays sweater,
I’ll cheer and shout, the more noise I make the better,
Yes, I’ll think of the crowd as they shiver out in the cold
As I sit by my cozy fire watching the first game unfold.
