A NIGHT OUT
On Friday evening we had a choice of three things to do,
In a small city, the choices on any evening are very few,
We could go to the movie theatre or to see a school play
Wander around town then see the stars at the end of the day.
We chose the latter, first we raced west to see the dying sun,
Then strolled around awhile until the day was all done,
Then eastward bound we went to star gaze for a little while,
We were given a special treat, a shooting star made us smile.
Many stars twinkled, the planets shone so very clear and bright,
The moon, almost full, glowed with a strong pale appealing light,
And after a glorious warmer sunny day the air was not cold,
We did not have to stand and shiver this masterpiece to behold.
Of our few choices given to us on that lovely Friday night,
I think we chose wisely, for there was no cost for that sight
Of priceless beauty of setting sun and stars in heaven above,
We felt the blessing of nature strengthen and increase our love.
