WYSIWYG
When I heard this for the first time
        I thought to myself,
It’s like granny’s old thingummybob
        that sits on her shelf,
For it is that kind of word that sounds
        rather silly and dumb,
Or could it be a variety of sweet fruit
        like apple or plum.

I went to the dictionary to find out for
        sure what it means
And to my surprise and shock I am quite
        wrong it seems,
For WYSIWYG is an acronym, can you
        work it our yet?
It means as the letters say, What You See Is
        What You Get.
My over active imagination I feel will never
        be quite the same.

For a thing like a thingummybob sounds
        sounds exciting to me
And when this knowledge came my way
        I was sad you see,
For granny’s old thingummybob did so
        many different things,
And I want a WYSIWYG to be something
        that magic brings.
