        FINDING OIL FOR OUR LAMPS
While we are waiting for the Bridegroom to come
To have enough oil there is much work to be done,
We cannot sit back and wait, do our hair to look grand,
To be ready for His coming there is much to understand.

We cannot borrow another’s oil our own lamps to fill,
We have to obey the Lord, listen to comprehend His will,
Some precious drops can be earned when we humbly pray,
Then more comes as we listen and learn each single day.

More drops are gathered as in faith we willingly fast,
In fact that oil will flow as we refrain from our repast,
Fasting for a special reason, whether it be great a small,
Will help us to follow the Master, hear Him at each call.

Stand strong and the wonderful Word of Wisdom keep,
As well as gain oil there are many other blessings to reap,
We are promised that we’ll not weary or fall along the way,
It will help us to strengthen character, be willing to obey

As we attend our meetings and be spiritually renewed and fed,
We will gain oil to see us through the hardest times ahead,
By mingling with the saints and partaking of the sacrament,
Thinking of the Master and be willing to always repent.

As we spread the gospel to others who know not His ways,
That oil needed will flow from heaven to us all our days,
Dear to be a Daniel and proclaim the truth and the light,
How the oil will flow as you serve with all your might.

Another way of gaining many blessings from heaven above,
Is to pay tithes with a heart filled with gratitude and love,
He gives us all we have and are, nothing is ours to own,
He asked so very little to gain more oil, to see His throne.

When we enter into the temple, then there willingly share
The light and truth of the gospel to the souls waiting there,
We will not have to worry if the Bridegroom comes unaware
For all the oil that you will need will have been filled with care.

Day by day, and drop by drop our lamps we should refill,
By being Christ-like and willing to always do His will,
Now is the time to fill each lamp until goodness overflows
Then we will be ready to enter when the Master at last shows.
