OUT AT NIGHT
Have you ever been out at night
When it was extremely black,
No stars or moon to shed their light
And street lights did lack?
No lights from windows gleam,
Or any cars passing by,
Darkness I am sure would seem
Everywhere to lie.
But as your eyes settle you can see,
For some light is there,
Save in the depths of a mine maybe,
There darkness is everywhere.
If you light a candle to show the way
That glimmer will show
Many souls how on the path to stay,
Be comforted by its glow.
Always keep a candle for a dark night
When no lights shine,
Place it in the window and so invite
Your friend and mine
To find rest and shelter and where to go
If lost and all alone.
Then as that outer candle begins to glow
Your inner light is shown.
