VENUS AND THE MOON
I really wanted to see Venus and the moon
close together at night,
The evening before the sky was so
very clear and bright,
They shone with radiance in a perfect
cloudless sky.
But on the night in question when they should
meet I glanced high,
All I saw were dismal clouds go swiftly,
selfishly passing by.
The following night the sky was clear
both as radiant as could be
I don’t know how long I’ll have to wait
that sight again to see.
But I can imagine lovely bright Venus lying
in the cusp of the moon,
Close together to the naked eye ,then
to part again all too soon.
