COURAGE
I watched in wonder at the fish running upstream,
Is it a hidden sense or some long forgotten dream
That drives them, urges them onward to their goal,
See them struggle with a force beyond their control.
I saw geese in the fall making a vee formation in the sky,
Hear them happily honking, communicating as they flew by,
Flying in perfect symmetry, each wing in unison as well,
They were moving fast across the heavens, you could tell.
I watched some chipmunks gather seed to last winter through,
All hurry and scurry and bustle, they seemed to have a lot to do,
Up and down the trees, running through that short autumn day,
They by some deep instinct knew they had to store food away.
There are many other creature who work very hard to survive.
Swimming upstream so their species will continue the thrive,
Flying south on weakened wings before winters harsh freeze,
Others store food to have a winter of restful comfort and ease.
We humans have it made easy, at least for the most of us,
Compared to the creatures around who dont seem to make a fuss,
Yet are we prepared to store food or just pack up and go away?
Will we follow His council and be ready every moment of the day.
