CHIPMUNKS
It is not very often chipmunks come to eat
In our back yard in winter it was a treat
To see these tiny creatures nibbling away,
Dodging the squirrels most of the day.

They move so very fast through the snow,
It is hard to keep track of where they go,
I think they have a home in the beech tree
For that is where we find most activity.

They seem to eat the bread standing there
Then stuff their cheeks with seed, unaware
That we’re watching, see how much they take,
How quickly for their tree home they make.

There are two pairs that gallop round the yard,
We want to take a picture but that is very hard.
You think you have them focussed just right,
When you go to click they are out of sight.

They have not appeared today our little friends,
I think they took enough seed so they could fend
For many days before they have to appear again,
Maybe next time a cute photo we may beable to obtain.
