More poems about the Baptistry

WAITING IN THE BAPTISTRY.
For the youth of the Richmond Hill Ward
and Markham Branch, 35 attended.

The oxen patiently stand,
The water is warm and clean,
Souls gather around in a band,
Maybe over the rails do lean
Waiting for their turn to come,
Will someone be here to save them?
Work for a few souls could be done,
Many have waited since way back when.

Those baptised and waiting to be confirmed
Are at least a step nearer to freedom
And now some joyful things have learned,
Now they also wait to move on.

A team with youth should be coming,
Although the weather is rather grim,
I hope they hear the cry of those waiting
And the battle with traffic safely win.

I like serving in the baptistry
Where the spirits start on their way
On to exaltation, soon to be free,
May be there’ll be celebrations this day.

Come and release the bands that now bind,
Open heavens door, let the light shine through
For your sacrifice one day you will find
That many waiting souls will bless you.

They came! And so much work was done,
You could feel their happy spirits there,
In the temple a waiting battle was won
For many, beyond the veil, joy beyond compare.
