        WINTER STORM WARNING
A winter storm warning, right now, is in effect,
Mind you it is January so what do we expect,
The sky is dull grey and the wind howls loud,
And the snow a continuous swirling cloud.

It’s garbage day and even full bins blow all about,
To communicate when outside you have to shout,
To venture out doors needlessly would be a mistake,
Although I would love to go and look at the lake.

I hope I see the mail lady come to our front door,
I’d offer her hot chocolate not minding the floor
If she stood and dripped, she may get a quite warm,
Keep her for a little while free from cold’s harm.

Winter storm warning flashed on both TV and radio,
‘Be careful’ it warns all, ‘wherever you may have to go’,
I wonder if the crossing guard for children is out there,
If so I hope the motorists see her and treat her with care.

I’ll soon light a bright fire, cook a good meal that is hot,
Then close the curtains early so the storm may be forgot,
Except the wind will still howl at the windows and door,
And I wish I could shelter and feed the homeless and poor.
