THOUGHTS ON FIRST READING
C S LEWIS CHRONICLES OF NARNIA

To delve in a book and feel utter delight,
Can’t put it down even late at night.
Who’d not love a world where animals talked,
Where fauns and centaurs freely walked,
A world where the good always wins in the end,
A world where a mighty lion is your best friend.
Beauteous places described in wonderful detail,
Marvelous ships over monstrous seas sail,
Nothing is crude or cheap in any way at all,
A place on which I know I’d love to call.
I’d love to see worlds formed and watch them end too,
Enter into paradise to prove that I’d also won through,
To be a character in the pages of that book so fair
Would be a joy beyond earthly compare.
Go to the library and take out this great book,
At wonderful literature take a long look.
Better still, save up and buy it and keep it around,
For many hidden treasures within it’s cover are found.
