More poems about Winter

        THIS TIME LAST YEAR
This time last year we had seen a robin or two,
And we’d had a lot more skies of bright blue,
Mind you it is still only mid January I know,
But I long for one small sign if spring to show

This time last year I was a year younger as well,
For as you get older, more each year does tell,
I should not grumble for winter now is at it’s best,
With jeweled branches and trunks with ermine vests.

This time last year there was little snow on the ground
At the moment there is at least twelve inches found.
The mounds from cleared driveways are quite high
And there is the colour of yellowish grey in the sky.

This time last year we were both very far from well,
Everything an effort and in my heart worry did dwell,
But now our health is much better even winter is fine,
Yet deep down inside for sweet gentle spring I pine.
