More poems about Birds

        LEAFLESS TREETOPS
In the leafless treetops the birds wait patiently,
The bird feeders are all quite empty you see,
On the fence sit the bolder feathered friends,
I’m sure on us feeding them their lives depend.

There is seed on the ground and many can feed
On the spilt goodies, of snow they take no heed,
They rub shoulders with the hungry squirrels too,
Is it too cold to venture out my good deed to do?

The whipping wind, cold sun in an ice blue sky,
Makes me want indoors to stay and cozily lie
In front of the fire, but they look so sad out there,
And with all God’s creatures my love I do share.

Maybe someone else here will do the good deed,
So those hungry birds will have some fresh seed,
But before very long I know the birds will be fed,
Or a vision of starving birds will stay in my head.
