MAD CATS
I think our two pussies have been at the catnip,
They have galumphed as if chased by a whip,
Eight furry feet going at ninety miles an hour,
Driven only by some crazy pussy cat power.

From basement to top floor, two blobs of fluff,
Racing so very fast they vanish in a quick puff,
There is no magician in the house that’s for sure,
Just mad cat nipped pussies going all over the floor.

I went to start the vacuum they jumped on it in fun,
I walked into the kitchen grabbed my legs and won
The battle, my tasks I gave up until they quieted down,
When that happens when I make a noise they’ll frown.

The sixth time around they were nosier than before,
The stairs vibrated, thought I need a new landing floor,
Even the bedsprings twanged loud on the spare bed
How much catnip had those two critters been fed.

There on the floor lay a ripped open catnip mouse,
Also the spare packet that was hidden in the house,
Enough catnip to keep them going for quite awhile,
I’ll keep out of the way, let them run for many a mile.
