I LONG
I long to see the spring flowers covering the ground,
And hear the morning chorus make its joyful sound,
I want to feel a warm breeze flow gently on my face,
Walk along a path with leafy trees swaying with grace.
I long for bright green grass and birds building each nest,
A much warmer, friendly sun sink much later in the west,
I long to see migrating birds return on travel weary wings,
In fact all the loveliness and hope that only spring brings.
But winter has not long begun, I know I have a long wait
Before sweet spring one day opens my garden gate,
So I will enjoy the winter, endure its treacherous beauty,
Until my heart rejoices when signs of spring will see.
