UNUSUAL WEATHER
Usually in January the garden is covered with snow,
This year the parsley, sage and rosemary still grow,
The lavender has new shoots, grass shows fresh green
It is one of the mildest winters we have ever seen.
The thoughts of mowing the back lawn in January
Blows the mind, folks would think us quite crazy,
But if this mild weather stays it might come to that,
Even go all English. play cricket with a funny bat.
Going out with just a sweater, no long johns wearing,
Other years you would be mad and also very daring,
The weather man is mixed up, this should not be for us,
But Ill soak it up and wont dream of making a fuss.
For tomorrow or next day proper weather may come,
So this break means a little reprieve we have won,
Off to go to do some shopping wearing only a sweater,
At the beginning of January what gift could be better.
