        AN UNUSUAL SIGHT
On January first of two thousand and four,
I saw something I had not seen before,
Sitting outside McDonald’s were a bunch
Of people who were eating their lunch.

It was above freezing I really do declare,
But you wouldn’t get me outside on a chair,
At first I did not believe this sight I’d seen,
But my husband saw it with eyes quite keen.

January this year started out as mild as can be
We have had no snow for awhile as you can see,
The rain washed the pretty white snow all away,
We didn’t even have left at all for Christmas day.

It was as warm here as at the Rose Bowl parade,
Just a nippy thirty eight degrees F in the shade.
I wonder if in my lifetime I will ever see again,
Folks eating outside in Canada as it began to rain?
