FLORILEGIUM
What! you say, or should it be who!
Now carefully let me explain to you,
No, it has nothing to do with flowers,
Or pleasant summer rainy showers.
But a special kind of expression,
Or florilegia, the plural of florilegium,
Meaning, my friends, believe or not,
Oops, wait a minute Ive just forgot!
Now I have it, a choice anthology
Of some of the worlds best poetry,
A mix of Latin and Greek you see,
Bound as one for your posterity.
A flowery bunch of good literature
Gathered together, long to endure
In the folds of a great book so fair,
Every sweet verse contained in there,
In Chaucers time florilegia were known,
More ideas by Shakespear were also sewn,
I wonder if I try my own florilegium make,
I have poems and stories for goodness sake.
Anns Florilegium of prose and sweet poetry
Would make a fine title for all of us to see,
But can I in all honesty compare to poets great
My words I write, my readers may not hesitate.
But I do not think this glory I could ever claim
A florilegium grand under my little known name,
But the desire is there, all I really need is the fee
To publish a large grand looking anthology.
