More poems about Christmas Festivities

LEFTOVERS
Especially over Christmas there are leftovers galore,
It is not something you can wrap and give to the poor,
However many you invite for a meal more food appears
Like a cornucopia, in our home hunger’s head never rears.

The cheese tray keeps coming out for all to munch upon,
We all think the meat on the turkey frame will never be gone,
Still, too much to make some home made soup so warm
Between the nibbling of mince pies and sausage rolls we are torn.

The pork and ham are still in plenty everywhere to be found,
Yet we fed many people, the tables laden heavy to the ground,
Even the rich trifle and Christmas pudding are still hanging in,
Not counting the Christmas cake, to leave it all would be a sin.

So is anyone hungry? Has anyone gone short of food at all?
Please come over to our place, just drop in and give us a call,
Help us to devour all the leftovers from a good Christmas day,
And we will send you home well fed, rejoicing all the way.
