GIFT OF ROSES
Sitting in the middle of the table in beauty,
Arrayed in fragrant glory for all to see,
A reddish pink in a sea of white and green,
One of the sweetest arrangement I have seen.
Each rose a pleasing picture of perfection,
Everyone on their own a great attraction,
Every petal folded in soft velvet loveliness,
Assembled for a short while, us to bless.
If only they could stay, in full bloom always,
Not have the petals fall at the end of their days,
But blossom eternally the way they are this day,
Yet the memory I know quite long will stay.
Yet when roses fade, fragrance comes through
Much stronger and gives another joy to you,
And as the petals fall on a table cloth of white,
Once again we find yet another pretty sight.
Just last in full beauty sweet roses until Christmas day,
Then slowly fade in grace so more joys come our way,
Each day your lives bless us with fragrance and beauty,
I wonder when we die will we so well have done our duty.
