DECEMBER BEAUTY
The hoarfrost glistened today under a cold bright sun,
Painting that pretty picture pink as the new day begun,
The long rays of the early sunlight made everything glow
And with a touch of a magic wand new colours did show.
Pinks, reds and rich gold danced across the dark lake,
The crests changed shades as the wind patterns did make,
The many colours faded leaving a sky of clear vivid blue,
Now the hoarfrost is bright like diamonds shining all new.
As the sun climbs to her zenith through the bright blue sky,
She gently warms the earth and the lovely frost begins to die,
But there will be another day, a different winter wonderland
As Jack Frost stretches forth his delicate icy cold hand,
Look for the lovely form that is seen in a tall graceful tree
Bereft of leaves, touched with frost a thing of great beauty,
Even the litter on the ground that missed the garbage bin
Can be seen in grace and form and so admiration win.
When the snow carpets the lawns and sidewalks too,
And everywhere is clean and bright, such a lovely view,
Feed the birds, watch and listen as food comes their way,
I know that it will cheer up any harsh cold winter day.
Do not moan through the winter, but live life to the full,
Walk carefully, see the beauty and things wont be dull,
Go and watch an ice necklace form around the lake,
See the colours that the rising and setting sun do make.
