RAIN
The streets were dark and dismal, dank and all forlorn,
Daylight should soon break but theres no sign of dawn,
Too many days together of this heavy cold pouring rain,
It makes you stop and wonder, if the sun will ever shine again.
In November it could be snowing, pretty flakes coming down,
And the days of snow, not rain, would not make us frown,
But the streets would not be drab but all white and bright,
And the falling snow is always such a beauteous sight.
You also stay drier when the snow comes falling down,
Not like the heavy rain which makes you think you may drown,
Its hard to keep dry and warm when the rain lashes your face,
The strong wind blows the rain and you walk at a slow pace.
Puddles are deep, my feet are wet, my coat cant keep me dry,
These weather conditions really want to make me moan and sigh,
I look like a bedraggled rat as though I had swam all the way home,
When I get safe indoors no more this day will I bother to roam.
Maybe soon the sun will shine, showing bright golden rays
That will send all these rain clouds scurrying far away,
Maybe today the rain will cease and well see blue sky.
And the damp dreariness will quickly fade as the day goes by.
