CUNNING
A lesson I have learned as through this busy life I go,
Satan is crafty and nearly always some truth does show,
For he knows we will be on guard if he told a direct lie,
So very cunningly he flashes truth before our eye.
When he enticed Eve with the fruit of the forbidden tree,
Said she would not die and of ignorance be then set free,
The latter part was true and death would not be right away
She would grow in learning and wisdom and then die one day.
Yet his cunning backfired for that was part of Gods plan,
But now we have to be wary, beat him any way we can,
Always carry the gift of discernment, hold up the true light,
Be valiant at all times and keep the Master in your sight.
Keep close to the gospel so he cannot deceive your mind,
So all his cunning craftiness your heart will never find,
Yet somehow well meaning folks fall into his trap,
And slowly all your spirituality he quietly does sap.
We know that men have to earn money to always provide,
So Satan often urges them to work long hours, a kind of pride,
Ignoring the fact that the family needs to see daddy every day,
That he is not just a figure of speech but is real in every way.
To another person he may be, it will not hurt to take time off
To hunt or fish by yourself it does not matter if others scoff,
He prompts others to feel, to please ourselves not of other think
And no one can tell them it will do no harm to have one drink.
So let us be wise, listen to the spirit sending Satan far away,
Follow the Masters plan and pray for safe keeping every day,
But never underestimate how very cunning old Satan be,
We need to stay on our guard, until sweet death sets us free.
