FANTASY AND MAKE-BELIEVE
In life, I feel, we need a little bit of fantasy and make-believe,
Just a little bit of nonsense, the harshness of reality to relieve,
Stories that help cheer us up and help us laugh at the absurdity,
But hidden somewhere in the make-believe is truth to set us free.
A story of both good and evil when the good folks always win,
And to be found without your honour on either side was a sin,
Honour among thieves was a true standard firm in days of old,
At least in all the many different stories that I was ever told.
I love an adventure about dragons, good wizards on the prowl
To conquer and tame all creatures that were wicked and foul,
Even if some of the good guys have to perish and too early die,
Every story tells that these people go to some place up high.
Fantasy and make believe help me face the hardships of life,
I can smile and more cheerfully work through all the strife.
For a fantasy book well written becomes very alive to me,
Yes, I can dwell with the elves and other creatures that I see.
