HOW DO WE GAIN HUMILITY?
How do we gain humility in this proud world of ours?
What virtues can we develop so humility all pride devours,
How do we train ourselves to willingly turn the other cheek?
Or deep inside our heart maybe humility we do not seek.

Maybe we think we are down trodden if we give in to His will,
Others think you weak so afraid your mission to always fulfill,
To lash out when hurt or offended are things that flow free
From most human hearts who are not yet tuned in to deity.

If we can be submissive of heart to do the will of our God,
Then we are on the path to humility that Christ has trod,
Not caring what others think of you but willingly obey,
Treating those who mock and scoff in a kind, loving way.

Then we are progressing forward toward sweet humility
A path that will help lead us heavenward and gain His glory,
Unconditional love is next a great step we need to take,
Part of the Christlike character that we should try and make.

A humble soul will always know of God’s everlasting love,
A true charitable heart, the kind ready for heaven above,
A heart forever filled with gratitude for all the things around,
Realizing that each talent is a gift from God by us to be found.

Then with humility bless those around with His pure love divine,
Praying always that I will feel His healing, strong hand in mine.
Please Lord help me find the gifts that will bring true humility,
That as I go through this life, I’ll follow thee Master and be free.
