CANINE CONVERSATIONS
(Talking dog)
It was a few years ago when I found that I could speak dog!
I helped some poor little pup be freed from the thick fog
Of human voices with a yap, woof and bow-wow or two,
Stopped him from being a yappy dog all his life through.
Whine, yap- yap, grruff, says, why have they left me here?
Gone to buy your food, in dog him I told, him to try and cheer.
Now since that time many canine conversations I have had,
Cheered up lots of dogs who were all alone and quite sad.
I told a little sheltie that he was well groomed and very sweet,
Talked with many a woof and high pitched yips on the street.
I had quite a long conversation with the dogs walking in the park,
When they heard me speaking dog they thought it quite a lark.
They helped me with the pronunciation of a gruff, rwuff or two,
Explained to me to hear a human speak dog was to them quite new!
I found wandering a little cairn terrier all alone, lost as he could be,
Explained that his home was close to by some strange half dead tree,
I knew the area very well and off to that special tree we went,
He licked me and then told me that I was from heaven sent.
Another dog of enormous size sat guarding his car with great care,
Looked fierce, being a cross of German shepherd and polar bear,
He bared his teeth and growled low and deep as I came near,
I said in dog I was a good friend and he should have no fear.
He wagged his tail and told me the name was Daisy! and said hello.
Then both of us were much happier as on our travels we did go.
I think all humans have the ability to learn many a canine word or two,
Then your loving doggie companion will flip when he sees you!
