REFRESHING RAIN
I awoke in the night to the sound of falling rain,
Relieving the thirst of nature, taking away pain
Of continuous heat when no relief was found,
The patter of the rain was a pleasing sound.
It gurgled in the gutters as it ran to the lake,
Rain bounced high with joy, took no break
As it came faster from the dark night sky,
Then thunder and lightening passed us by.
Next morning the sun shone bright and clear,
A louder morning chorus did we all hear,
The garden plants raised their heads in gratitude
As needed sweet moisture to earth was renewed.
Diamonds sparkled on everything all around,
The dying grass had new green life found.
The whole world refreshed by a shower of rain,
You could hear all nature sing a happy refrain.
